SGA Co-President Alex Balian says the event is meant to server as a “get to know you” event for people to meet and come back to school with fun!

Resources

Your Counselor: It is always a good thing to have good contact and relations with your counselor. Afterall, your counselor is there to guide you through your time in High School. Check in on them the first weeks of school to discuss your goals for this year. They will be able to better plan things for you if they know! You can find who they are in your Class Schedule in Synergy, labelled as Period 10.

Canvas: Where all of our classes and assignments are located. Although all of us use it, did you know you can customize it to your preference? Take a moment to move your classes on your dashboard, rename courses, and change course tiles. In the calendar section you may also change course colors and choose which courses you want seen.

It is also a good habit to check your calendar and To-Do pages. Being on top of assignments gives you more relaxation than it does submitting it by 11:59.

Synergy: Also known as StudentVue, Synergy is where our gradebook is located. However it also holds some sneaky emails that we don’t always catch so it’s good to check it every now and then. The Attendance page is good to check on to see if you have been marked absent and tardy.

Since the unpopular Synergy UI update last year, many have wished to go back to the old grade view page. You can go back to the old viewing option by opening a class grade book and choosing the Assignment View in the upper right hand corner.

Emails: Our school emails are filled with canvas notifications, causing important emails to be hidden like a needle in a haystack. If you have 15-20 minutes, change the settings in Gmail or Outlook to auto-sort the emails so that you see the ones that are important easily without any fluff. Afterwards, check your email every now an then.

Our personal emails are also important to check regularly. More and more clubs and organizations are adopting the use of personal emails for communication. Being able to check them and manage those inboxes are important, especially when you graduate and jump into the adult world.

School Website: The school website is useful to check to get important forms and documents. It’s also useful to get into contact with specific teachers with their Staff Directory. We will create guides on how to navigate them in the future. You can go to the website here.

County Website: The county website is useful to have to check during poor weather conditions for changes in school operations. It also has the Traditional School Calendar which has all the breaks and half-days marked on it. A good tool for planning get aways and get togethers. You can go to the website here.

Certain days are subject to change dependent on weather.
